My next Pantone post will probably be a take a few days more to get in order, so I figured I’d post some excellent, color related links I’ve come across.
First and foremost, there have been some great perfume blog posts focusing on colors lately. Suzanne at Eiderdown Press has written about red and violet scents, respectively, at:
- Charting the Waters with Sonoma Scent Studio Voile de Violette
- At the Moment … Contemplating Change and Seeing Red with Habit Rouge
Blacknell Allen of aperfumeblog has done a piece on mauves at:
One of my fellow Stockholm Perfume Blogger, the graceful Sylvia Ziemski of Senseofscent (yes, she also blogs in English!) alerted me of this interview, with none other than Pantones Executive Director Leatrice Eiseman (yes, that’s a job I wouldn’t mind myself!):
And if that isn’t enough, here is a entertaining color game, it’s part of an ”online course on design for analytical minds” that maps out how good you’re at spotting different hues:
Cheers!

Thank you for the link love, Sigrun. I read that excellent ”Busting a Mauve” post at Blacknall Allen’s blog last week and thought of you. Will check out Sense of Scent’s interview too.
Where on earth did you come across that Barbie? Heck if that isn’t some odd bit of synchronicity!
Actually, I found that Barbie in a very ordinary toyshop. Nothing fancy, just ordinary childrens toys. This barbie was on the same shelf as all the other Barbies, only it cost three times as much. I very much doubt that they’ll manage to sell it!
Sigrun, I also thought of your experiment when I read Blacknall’s post
I hate online tests! (well, I love them but usually it’s hard to stop) My average (after the second try) is 7 – and I have to stop there
Haha, I understand your view of online tests! My score was 6.7. But I took the test while my son was asking me again and again what I was doing, which might have affected my performance
